no spoilers here, just some thoughts… this lab presents some very specific challenges… one of those challenges is configuring rip, ospf and eigrp but without the advantage of redistribution between the IGP’s… the point of the exercise is to make BGP do the work… and while trying to do that, you are not allowed to use network statements… it makes you dig deep into what you thought you knew about BGP…

that aside, i am fond of using blanket network statements for IGP’s, ie netw 0.0.0.0, et al, because it’s faster… in doing so, one must always be careful of leaking, which means the passive interface command needs to be used often, or more specifically, the passive interface default command, then turn on the interfaces as needed… if you choose to use network 0.0.0.0 in the above lab, you will find that the passive-interface default command comes in handy…
