dial tone and voice…

in this simple scenario; after registration, phones to switch to router/cme, there should be dial tone, ringing and voice between the phones… (if no dialtone/voice in the handset, press the speaker button to ensure there is dial tone on the set)  my phones would ring but no voice or dial tone from the handset… the fix to that was pm… apparently 7940/7960’s have issues with the hook switch malfunctioning over time… there are four screws on the back of the set; two of them may be buried under the non-skid boots, simply peel those back a little to expose the screws) the shell does not separate easily; handle with care) the solution is here:

the tension wire, when removed will help you replace the contact grommet back into the little circuit board that goes on the ear piece… you’ll note that if you insert the end of the tension wire into the rubber tab that goes into the board, it goes in easily because there is a hole that will let you guide it in… otherwise it is tricky  trying to squeeze it back in with only your finger tip…

using this method will make you curse a lot less as you try  to get back into the hole… not unlike what we attempt throughout life…
