ccna rumors…

according to todd lammle:

Cisco will announce on March 26th that there is a new CCNA R/S (640-803 probably..), however, disapointedly the CCNA will no longer be a pre-req to ANY other certification except the CCNP R/S!

The new cert will be harder for sure, covering advanced EIGRP and mutli area OSPF, as well as a lot more IPv6. I heard it will be released in June, but information is scarce. Do we care about this new cert if no one will need it for Data Center, Voice, Security, etc?

this is kind of a scary thought… my thinking is this: one needs to get past ccna before doing anything else reasonably… there are tons of ccna ready folks out there who cannot pass the test because it’s so HARD… but i think it is ultimately important to get through successfully before moving on… now this bodes well for me because it means i do not have to pass ccna security to do ccnp security… it will be interesting to see if ccnp r&s now becomes a pre-req for ccnp security, or not… ultimately i’d like to tack on ccnp security but two weeks ago i was disheartened that ccna security is a pre-req for ccnp security… so what did i do… i bought ccna security and blasted through that last week, all 600 hundred pages, and i also bought this:

ccnasec

this thing is awesome… 500 pages of labs… but arteq you protest, you are going backwards…

forsooth, i say…

i’ve never been one to skip ahead to chapter 48… start at the beginning, as always…

the upshot of the ccna security lab manual is it covers so much, including ips, site-to-site vpn with asa, the whole smash…  going backwards is merely another way of leaping ahead…

you need this…
